This high-precision, in office dental technology allows our dentists to create permanent, lab-quality same-day restorations- such as crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers in a single office visit. We use 3D digital imaging and CAD/CAM technology to design and mill teeth-colored restorations on-site.
What is involved with a same-day crown procedure?
It begins with your dentist examining your tooth to determine the appropriate treatment. Whether you need a simple filling or a full crown, we have the on-site capability to help restore your tooth. Your dentist administers an anesthetic and prepares the tooth for restoration by removing decay and weakened tooth tissue.
Next, your dentist takes an optical impression of your tooth. They use a non-toxic, tasteless powder to coat the tooth and then a camera to take a picture of the tooth, which together creates the impression. The whole process only takes a minute or two.
With Glidewell fastmill.io™ we can design, mill, and deliver a crown in as little as an hour. But your full appointment time will vary depending on your unique situation. The machine uses 3D software to create a virtual model of your tooth on the computer screen. It can then produce an all-ceramic, tooth-colored restoration that is ready to be bonded in place. Once the tooth is in place, your dentist polishes it, and you’re ready to go. There’s no need for you to make another trip to the office to replace a temporary restoration.
